SVEConnect fiber optics is adding more customers every day with the majority of Marion County now being served. One large area that will soon be ready to connect is the South Pittsburg Mountain/Orme area. Construction is 100% complete, splicing is nearing completion and testing is expected to begin this month. If all goes as planned, customers will be ready to connect at the end of this month.
The Battle Creek area will be connected next. Construction is on-going, with splicing expected to begin this month.
“Battle Creek is a bit more challenging,” said Ancillary Manager Mike Birdwell. “Battle Creek is divided by Interstate 24, and we have to obtain TDOT permits for each of the six interstate crossings.” Birdwell expects Battle Creek to be ready for installations this fall.
The other areas left to connect are the East Valley Road area in east Jasper and Suck Creek Mountain. Construction has begun in east Jasper, which includes most of Hancock Road, Mullins Cove, Griffith Highway and surrounding roads. Construction on Suck Creek Mountain is expected to start in September.
SVEConnect has connected over 3,000 customers to high-speed fiber optics in Marion County.
